945 Snow Tire Sizing Question 900 1994

The tires will fit- the wheels won't. FWD rims feature a different offset than most RWD.

The tires would be correct if you had the optional 16" rims for the 940.
The 940 should get a set of snows, mounted either on the stock rims (save the all-season's) or a second set of rims just for snow tires.
Get 195/60-15 or 185/65-15 tires for snows. I found a pair of Gislaved Nord*Frost III's for my Virgo rims, in the 195/60-15 size. They seem very nice and have a great reputation. Any Gislaved snow tire is going to be great. I've also used Bridgestone Blizzaks with great success. I just picked up a pair of Dunlop Graspics for the other 240, and we'll see how those work.

I do know that all-season tires on a 700 or 900 are not going to make you feel safe in the snow. Some, and I'll cite the Pirelli P400 here, are absolutely useless, even when new.

All-around best snow tire? Probably the Nokian Hakkapellitta. Sounds weird, but they are probably the most capable snow tire made in the world today. Darn good on dry pavement as well.
