240 oil light on intermitantly 200

about once evry week, the oil light on my friends 240 comes on....he feels the car bog down slightly (maybe its his psycho). the problem is that he cant really get it to a mechanic to repair it, or properly diagnose the problem.
is this just some sort of relay problem?
does the pressure sender need to be replaced....are there any tests for this?

Note: he just recently had his sump pan gasket replaced...id the pump getting enough feed?

HELP
thanks,
9
