pulled codes - need help 700 1989

Seems unlikely the gauge sensor would affect engine control.
According to a wiring diagram I have for 90 740s, The gauge sensor has
yellow/black and yellow/white wires going to it, the ECU sensor has gray/white and a red/black. Haven't checked this on my car (an89).

I assumethe FAQ wil have ohms eadings for the coolant ECU gauge you can check. But be sure to check with an ohm meter at the ECU terminals
There are actually 2 sensors in that unit, one for fuel ecu, one for ignition.
If you are getting codes on both it could be the sensor is not grounded well, (is it tight), or both wires are broken.
The red/black goes to terminal #2 of the ignition ECU, the gray/white to #13 of the fuel ECU.
All this info is from a Chiltons manual, which I got from my library.
