960 Outside Door Handle 900 1996

Well, the wife said that the driver's side door handle does not work to open the car door from the outside (the door still opens correctly from the inside). When you squeeze the little lever to open the door it just pulls up lamely. The 700/900 FAQs has directions on repairing the inside door handle, but does not have a section on how to repair the outside door handle operation. Anyone know how to do it?

All help appreciated. The wife ain't all that happy about having to get into the car on the passengers side :0(
