Okay, I'm still debating about my 88 244s exaust!

So, I'm tempted to go with the performance exhaust. I just want to be very sure that I'm not going to loose low end power and thus shorten the engene life. It seems like if you have to step on the pedal harder to get it going it's going to be hard on the car. I do about 85% of my driving in town, so, I want to make the right decision. I don't find that the noise bothers me, so it really comes down to what is best for the car. It's a 1988 244 with the m47 manual gear box. I really want to see this car have the odomoter roll over to zeros at least three times! So, What should I do. As, I said, my first priotry is the car's health, and then performance. Tell me what you think. Thanks and happy bricking!
