car not wanting to run in cold...cranks all day long 900

car cranks fine, but does not want to run. yeaterday at 9:30 am (32 deg F) my father went to start it and he said in didnt start the first time. he crancked, stopped, stepped on the gas 3 times, cranked again, and it started. i drove about 200 miles and stopped a few times and no problems.
this morning it was "19, feels like 12" deg F and we got a little snow and ice, and i went outside to crank and start. it cranked.....and cranked, and cranked, and cranked........ :o "AAARRGGHHHH!!!" no running.
the battery's got plenty of power, but it just does not run...i tried to step on the gas as my father did, and nothing.

i read Gospel's post about the crank sensor (if i remeber correctly). how can you tell it is that, and not some fuel injection problem. how can i diagnose this to know what is wrong.

so, now, i have a RWD car with winter tires that cant run and the roads have a little snow...
