Block Heater 140-160

I'm not knocking block heaters but it seems that cold, thick oil is more likely the cause for slow turn-over and poor lubrication than cold coolant which still flows like water. I don't know for sure, but it doesn't seem like a block heater in the water jacket would do anything to warm the oil. It would certainly heat the cabin quicker though.
My thoughts exactly. Also the argument that the engine warms up quicker seems it a bit funny to me. The area that gains from a coolant-heater is cilinders/head/pistons, but that warms up within a (few) minute anyway. It's the oil that takes time to warm up. And it's the oil that causes slugish starting and does not provide full lubrication during the first 15 minutes or so. I would go for an oil heater rather then an engine heater.

cheers, ben
