Thanks for your quick response to my query! And thanks for going into such detail--I was thinking how similar the glass mounting in the rear hatch might be to the side mounting. Your response reminded me of how we once replaced the windshield on an old Super Beetle convertible. We used the cord-in-the-groove technique then, too, along with lots of dish detergent and more pushing than we at first thought might be safe. Finally, it popped into place. Looks like I'll be working over all three of my wagons big back windows.
