96 960 whine S90-V90

The car has a high pitched whine that rises with the revs.
My dear old mother took it (1996 960), to the dealer and they told her that it was the power steering pump and they wanted over 1k to fix...she said forget it and called me.

So, I installed a new power steering pump (becasue that was their diagnosis), and that was not the problem...not the first time they have done this!!!!
I then installed a new alternator, acc belt and tensioner as well as the idler pulley. It is strange, when I started the car with the belt off to see if it was one of those components, no noise was heard, which is why I replaced those parts. It does not look like it is the AC system...no noise when I turn the pulley...

Car has 130,000 miles.

Any experiences or ideas?

Thanks much,
Ed
