I've done this on an '83 Turbo - task was greatly simplified by using a complete manual transmission donor car of approx. the same age as yours - that way you have all the stuff (flywheels, clutch pedal set-up, etc.) you need to convert. Take lots of photos from underneath the donor car, under the dash and under the hood BEFORE you start to disassemble...
