'86+ headlight conversion in progress . . . (pic) 200 1989

A taste of things to come . . .



Against the advice of some Brickboarders and bucking any other trends of lighting conversions for post-1986 240s, I began the process today of installing the four round headlights found on 1976-1980 Volvo 240s.

I'm not quite halfway done. Just about everything you see in the above picture is balancing in place. Since I took the photo, I did get the driver's side headlight assembly locked into place satisfactorily, but I've yet to mount fully the headlight frames or the turn signal aseemblies. The front end is going to be very tight when I'm done, both in looks (in my opinion!) and in physical space--this conversion is impossible without the smaller and narrower 740T grille.

If I'm lucky, I'll have things finished up by late tomorrow evening. More than likely I'll be completing the work on Friday or Christmas day. The help I've gotten from my dad doing this conversion has been the best Christmas present I've gotten in a while!
