changed intake manifold gasket... oil in intake manifold? causes? 700 1988

Gang,

changed my intake manifold gasket today. Noticed a fair amount of oil in the intake manifold runners... enough to make me concerned.

This is a non turbo with a clean flame trap, all hoses clean and unplugged. No other air leaks.

Why would there be oil in this part of the intake manifold?

Your thoughts?

Thanks.

Mike
