Clean the black goo Volvo uses 200 1990

I discolored my upholstery(head liner) with the black stuff they use around the inside of the windscreen and to hold in place wiring in some parts of the car. I have smeared the nice white headliner in a few places. Any suggestion as to what can clean this will be very much appreciated.
