Bob, you are a resourceful guy. I'm glad you checked out that wobble; probably saved you a radiator and who knows where that would have happened.

Off topic, but since you pointed out I went about the small clock dissassemly the hard way, by cutting the housing instead of peeling the bezel, I tried one using your suggestion. It rolled back on quite nicely, really, whether hidden by the escutcheon or not.

But back to the topic, I was wondering why, with a volvo farm close at hand, would you go to hardware store (which I picture as not being a 10-minute trip) to fetch an M8 locknut? Or was that what it was... Now my little collection all runs, so I'm loathe to make one a temporary donor if it can be avoided, but just running out for anything costs an hour.

Your description of the cold has me hurrying to finish this response so I can put a sweater on. Brrrr.
