Testing Cold-Start Injector on B21F 200 1981

So if mine has no impulse relay, I can just skip that part of the directions in Bentley when I go to test the cold start injector? What I'm really trying to determine is whether the injector is leaking and helping cause a rough idle. The car starts fine so I think that function of the injector is OK. To see if it leaks, couldn't I just pull it out, ground it, jump the pumps to run by themselves, and watch the injector to see if it leaks? Since the engine starts fine, I guess I don't really need to test its spray pattern or spray duration. Am I on the right track here?
