Conversion to 4/round headlamp setup on later 200 series (88)? 200

I have just acquired an '88 245 with the infamous yellowed plastic headlamps. I do realize that I can buff these out to clean them up, but my experience with euro lights in general (from another make of car) is that they don't have as sharp a beam cutoff as I would like anyway.

I do, however, happen to have a full set of glass-lens, H4, round headlamps for a 4-lamp setup (such as on a 78-79 North American market 240).

Has anyone ever tried such a conversion? I am wondering if the headlamp mounting setup and headlamp 'doors' (the headlight surrounds) can be made to fit a later-style 240 front end. I found a pic on a Swedish site that LOOKS like a later car with the four-lamp setup grafted in, but I can't be certain and the pic is not credited to the car owner so I can't really find out.

Failing this, can someone who has tried running overwattage H4 lamps (such as motorcycle units) comment on whether there is any heat issue with these, in the plastic headlamp assemblies? I had the MC units in my old Benz, with euro lenses, and was surprised at how hot the lenses got. The thermal shock possibilities made me pull the hot lamps out for winter use, for example.
