1990 240 stalling at stop lights 200

My '90 240 wagon has been stalling when I come to stop lights. It always starts right back up and runs great otherwise. I've gotten pretty good at working the brake and clutch simultaneously with my left foot so that I can keep my right foot on the gas while idling at stops, because as long as I keep my foot on the gas it does not stall. Any suggestions? The "check engine" light has been on so I'm wondering if this is any indicator of the cause of the current problem. Thanks everyone.
