760 water pump seal leaks 700

' Just put a new water pump on my '84 760 Turbo ( B23FT). It is leaking around the coolant pipe that connects to the back of the pump. I bought the pump at Advance Auto and new seals were included. My question is can I remove the coolant tube to replace the seal without pulling the pump again? I did a good job cleaning the mating surfaces where the seals go, but one of the replacement seals just seemed a little too thin ( the one that goes around the coolant tube).
