'87 740 GLE Wagon Stopped running 700 1987

If it won't crank something is obviously amiss in the cranking circuitry. Is there a good battery cable connection to the starter?. If so, see if the solenoid gets current when turning the key. If not, could be in ign.switch. If solenoid gets current but no crank ,could be bad starter solenoid.
You can use a small wire direct from the batt+ to solenoid to see if it cranks. This will by-pass any bad ign.switch.
Make sure gear is in park and handbrake on if trying this .
A little logic will solve this easily.
