Problems with GMB Water Pump/Heater Pipe Seal 200 1982

Use some emery paper on the water pipe end, and then use some silicone grease on it. Put some silicone grease on the seal, and install it at the very end of the pipe. Make sure the pump recess is clean, and maybe a bit more grease there too. Slide it together, and the seal will move down the pipe as the pump recess pushes it. Works for me nearly every time.
Volvo supplies a seal that has a chamfer on the OD to ease this part of the installation, and it works, but the aftermarket guys still supply the square cut seal.
