Replacing rear brake pads in 940....suggestions needed 900

I typically do all the minor work on my cars, however, I bought a 94 wagon that most likely never had the rear brakes replaced and was looking for help. I got down to do the job (without a manual) and could not figure out how the retaining bar for the pads comes out or if they were pressed into the caliper. Could someone help me out to make this task simple, or is the simplest thing to do is to spend the $125 and have a shop do the job?
Thanks for any and all suggestions.
