Oil in Coolant Header tank - 760 B280E V6 700

Still in some doubt about oil source in the coolant header tank of my 1989 760 (B280 V6 engine).
Just getting a film of emulsion in coolant header tank, and it's difficult to tell whether it's ATF from the autobox or engine oil?
Can anyone suggest which is most likely, or how to tell which oil it is before I start pulling it apart??
Seems to me it could be ATF getting in via the radiator cooling system or oil leaking from one of the engine galleries.
Both engine oil and gearbox ATF seem to be water-free and are not showing signs of loosing oil.
Engine is running fine and has no combustion gasses present in coolant (head gasket OK I guess?).
Autobox is working fine as well - at the moment.
Hope someone might have the answer here!
all the best for 2005 from Scotland by the way,

OwenF
