Interior light delay relay 200 1992

Hi I have a '92 240GL D24

I was under the impression that all GL's had the delay function for the interior lights as standard. Mine certainly hasn't.
The light shut off the moment all doors are closed.

Now for my questions:

- Is it possible that the delay relay is broken, or would the light then just not work?

- Or is this due to my European (Belgian) specifications, and the delay was optional here (even for gl's)?
If so would it be possible to add the function, and how would one go about doing this?

As always TIA (don't know what to do without the board)
