How do you trust your brick for long distance trip

Putting 2000+ miles in a week is not unheard of for my '91 with 209k+ miles. Preventative maintenance by the book, sometimes even ahead of schedule (I'm still old school on the 45k timing belt/fan belt changes, and the tensioner and water pump/hoses/heater valve/etc. gets replaced every other one, regardless of condition), and it'll do just fine. Also, when I get a new part in (like alternator brushes), this car is more apt to get it first, passing the used part down the fleet.

And always a just in case, carry a pack of spare fuses, relays, a small toolkit, a misc. assortment of clamps (especially large ones for like my turbo hoses), some screws, nuts, and bolts.
