vlvworld replacement fuel pump 200 1978

Errr... I ordered a replacement fuel pump for my 1978 245 from vlvworld.com, only to find the new pump does not match the old one (the line that runs to the accumulator comes out of the other end rather than the side, and instead of a plug for the electrical hook-up there were two separate terminals on either side of the pump).
I've e-mailed them and they claim that it can be made to fit. Has anybody done this before? Will the pump work or is it simply all-out the wrong pump? And if it is the wrong one, does anybody know where to get the correct pump for a reasonable price?
