Need Help Identifying Two Connectors Under Hood 200 1981

Best thing you can do is dig up a proper 1981 wiring manual, and then follow the wires underhood.

I scanned in a few pages from the emissions and CIS manuals I have (http://blarf.homeip.net/gallery/Volvo200), and then re-read your question.

The red wire should end up at terminal #17 on the lambda ECU. Unplug the harnesses from the various ECUs, disconnect the battery, plop a multimeter n the mystery wire, and apply voltage to terminal #17.

From looking at the 1985 wiring manual I have (again, follow the URL), I'd suspect that the wire going through the firewall is for the LH turn signal (see pages 6, 74, and 75).

Do all of your direction indicator lights work?
