Temperature gauge failure 200 1987

I would try the search function but it doesn't seem to be working (at least for me) right now. I am familiar with the temp comp board problems cause I have been living with that for a while. A couple of days ago, the temp gauge just stopped working. Worked fine one day. When I started it up the next day, it stayed off scale low. Never moved. Later the same day, it started working again. Next day, off scale low and has been that way ever since. Fuel gauge is working fine. Wire to sensor is intact, but I haven't had a chance to do any troubleshooting. Anyone had a similar problem. I'm guessing an open circuit somewhere. What is the most likely culprit? I am assuming the voltage stabilizer is OK because the fuel gauge works. Thanks for any and all advice.
