Carburetor Basics... 120-130 1967

Hello All:

1967 Volvo 122S Wagon. I am starting to learn a bit more about the carburetors and I have posted a few diagrams from the owner's manual above my desk so I can familiarize myself with the inner and outer workings.

I have read with great interest many of the posts over the last few months dealing with carbs and I have the most basic question - what is the difference between idle and fast idle?

Any online references you can suggest that explain these SU's would help -perhaps something that will show me how a fuel molecule and an air molecule make their respective life journeys before consumating the union above the throttle flap. Most of the carb info I am finding is dealing with electronic subsystems.

Cheers,

Jeff Pucillo
