Getting M46 to go back on the engine 200 1984

1984.5 B21FT M46 245 Ti

I CANNOT, for the life of me, get the transmission to fit back on the engine. I wrestled with it for 2 hours tonight and my dad and brother helped too. Exhaust is off. It just seems like there is not enough room in the transmission tunnel to get it to align right. If it isn't rubbing on the sides, the shifter brace on back is hitting the top. Its very hard to get the input shaft to get back through the pressure plate "fingers" and onto the splines by the pilot bearing. I just can't do it!!!!!!!

I have 2 floor jacks and helpers. PLEASE help!! I left the garage tonight very pissed off and frustrated and usually a little break always helps.

Any tips or pointers at all????

Later,
Smith
