Rear window defroster not hot enough? S90-V90

My rear wondpow defroster never seems to do the job. I bought the car 3 years ago and it never did work well. It seems to melt the snowa tiny bit along the lines but thats it. Now I have opwned other cars where it melts the whole window, this doesn't even melt the ice.

WHat could it be??

Hey, isn't there a care with Front windshield defroster built into the window? THought I read it somewhere and can't recall. merc? BMW?
