Question about aftermarket wheel offset 200

I am trying to find wheels that fit my car, but without the (out of stock) wheel spacers from gil racing I am pretty much limited to Borbet Type E as a safe choice for 16" wheels. they come in 5x108 with a +18mm offset. ANYHOW, my question is: how far can I go with offset without the wheel sticking out too much like so many blinged-out cars these days? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I am sure others share my curiosity about this..
