Engine sputtering after fuel pump replacement 700 1990

I have been hoping that it is not bad considering the cost of it. 155.00 At my cost.
It was replaced about a year ago.
I replaced the check valve yesterday but that did not fix the problem so I checked the fuel pressure regulator by removing the fuel return line. When I turned the engine over Fuel did not flow which indicates that it is faulty. I will pick one up one the way home. Hopefully this will fix the problem.
