intermittent running problem w/ B230 200

I have a strange running issue w/ my'88 240 it will run great for a while (1 month +/-) then while driving the car will not accelerate past 3000 rpm, I shut the engine off for 10 sec. restart (w/ no problems) and the car runs great like there never was an issue. This has been happening for awhile during the summer and winter. I have the air box blocked to cold air, replaced the temp. coolant sensor (NAPA sensor black in color) has new tune up and air filter, fuel pumps and filter. The FAQ's suggest a knock sensor or fuel injection relay as the only thing close to this issue but, I have no hard starting problems. Has anyone heard of a similar issue? Thanks.
