remote starter install complete 200 1989

Well happy New Year.

I completed the installtion of the remote starter. It wasn't too bad, except that it is easy to wrongly estimate the number of connections that actually need to be done. Dorr locks not done due to the inability to actuate the lock o nthe passenger door (without modifiction).

The only 'problem' is the following:

I had installed the small voltmeter guage on the car 2 years ago. Thoguh not exact, it helps diagnose. When idling the car through the remote starter and having accessories on (like blower), the voltmeter voltage reads around 13 or so. Measure at the battery terminals I get 13.95. When I start the car without the starter, the battery terminals show the same 13.95 (OK) but the dash voltmeter is significantly higher.

When I start it with starter, and then get in , turn the key to ON, the dahs indicated voltage goes up around 1 volt. Again though the battery terminal voltage remains unchanged.

The indications of the battery voltage would prove that the alternator is indeed charging the battery at idle from remote start, but what is causing the weakness in the votlage supplied to the dash voltmeter?? BTW, I conencted it to two differnt supplies at the fuse panel, same effects.

I find this a bit concerning... if it was the other way around I would be less worried. I am concerned to let the car idle after a remote start, feelign I might be stressign something.

Where did I go wrong at the wiring???

Thanks,
