Exhaust Leak Somewhere 700 1985

Hello everyone! I'm hoping you will be able to assist me in resolving a exhaust leak issue I'm having trouble with on my '85 740 Turbo Diesel.

I recently just had the resonator and muffler replaced in hopes it would stop a exhaust leak that is causing fumes to enter the passenger compartment. No luck. I have noticed that the fumes seem stronger when running the heater or defroster. Even if I have the blower motor turned off the fumes still seem to enter the compartment. I have also noticed that if I move the temperature gauge to cold the fumes seem to stop coming in.

Here are the areas that I know I should check or replace gaskets: 1). exhaust manifold, 2). exhaust pipe. After this I'm not sure where elese to check. Your help on this issue would greatly be appreciated!

As a side note, I'm modifying this 740 to run on used vegetable oil.

Thanks

Jerry
