windshield for '84 240DL

I'm pretty sure they all fit. I've replaced my '86 and '89 windshields - both times having the shop put in (new) glass fof the later style, with thin flat black rubber edge moulding. It looks a lot better! Don't know if the chrome-trim style would fit a later car, but I do know that the later style works great on the older cars.

Rear window is not the same story. Older style has recessed glass; the newer has the glass sitting flush on top of the sheet metal. Latch arrangement at door bottom is different also, so I think that changing to a newer rear door is not practical.

Removal tips - I never did it. My (mechanical) fix-it shop says they break 90% of the time when you pull them. I watched part of the removal process the last time an auto glass shop replaced a windshield for me - they did put more cracks in the glass while removing it. Definitely DON'T remove your current one before getting a good replacement into your hands.
