beware potential internet scammers responding to brickboard classified ads

Just thought Id pass this along to all---I have a car for sale on the brickboard and a person emails asking for pics and more info-I do so and things look like the person is ready to come and look at the car. Today-I get another email stating that they want the car and that they are in Africa-and will send a check for thousands over the selling price and for me to send the balance back after I pay their shipper and etc--sounds familiar? Seems like these scammers are still at it.
