Cracked Windshield options? 200

Well, after passing the safety inspection, the 'ol brickwagon caught a pebble in the glass. Boston cold has caused it to spread to the base of the glass. It was the original, 16 year old windshield. Anyone know off-hand what the ramifications, both safety and legal (citation?) if this is not fixed, and any advice on who to use? I hear that the 240 windshield is the same for 144 family models dating back to 1967. Seems as if it is a very common part. Ideas?
