How does ABS work? 200 1993

I'm curious because both my '99 Explorer and my '93 245 have ABS. The Explorer blew a tire while we were in Texas this summer, so I bought a new Goodyear and put on the front driver's side (that's where the other one was). Everything was fine, but recently, the ABS lite came on. This brings up an interesting question:

If I install the refurbished virgos wheels this weekend on my '93 245, will the ABS lite come on? Does the ABS system look at how evenly spinning all four wheels are? I have four of the same tires..all evenly worn, but the Explorer scenario I've described above makes me wonder. I tried swapping the new Goodyear tire on the Explorer to the passenger side...but the ABS lite is still sealed in...perhaps I should find out how to reset....but more importantly, I want to avoid the ABS lite coming on in the 245 wagon.

Thanks,
