How does ABS work? 200 1993

It allows you to steer in poor traction conditions while braking at maximum. In gravel and snow ABS will increase stopping distances. Its a waste of money and complexity having it.

Yeah, who wants to steer in the snow anyways. LOL.

I'll add that for most on-road use, a well designed ABS system works wonders. It sure prevented me from locking up any of the wheels on a few 70-0 panic stops on the highway recently (dry weather even). Scared the shit out of some guy in a Neon behind me (it didn't hurt that he locked up his LF wheel and sent plumes of rubber smoke into the air).

As long as you're cleaning the brake dust out of the speed sensors, and flushing the brake fluid regularly.. the ABS systems, as found on the RWD Volvos, don't provide extra maintenance hassles.
