Switch heads from 240 B230 to 740 B230? 700 1986

Just bought an 86 740 that has had another engine dropped in...but it is an 89 240 style B230 with the 240 distributor on the driver's side of the engine. It works just fine...BUT you know how 'retentive' we Bricksters can be. I am thinking of traveling to San Antonio to the nearest Pick N Pull and buying a 740 B230 head with the cam driven rear distributor. Then having it redone by a machine shop, and installing it onto the block.
Is this a good idea or should i just leave well enough alone?
Thanks,
el raidman
