760 Turbo fuel pump noise-follow up 700

I took the return line off of the FPR today and started the car. Fuel sprays out just like it should with the engine running. ' Guess that rules out the FPR as the cause of the noisy main pump. When I pull the fuse for the in tank pump with the car running, the main fuel pump is very quiet. The intank pump is functioning ( I can hear it running through the filler neck with the gas cap removed). I guess I'll have to pull the sender/intank pump to investigate further. I suspect that the rubber line from the prepump to the pickup tube has holes in it. But, if this was the case, wouldn't the pump quiet down when I fill the tank full?

Thanks in advance,
Dave
