Electrical Problem with '93 960 - Car Loosing All Electrical Power 900

I am having some sort of electrical problem with my '93 960. At times, typically shortly after startup, but not always, it will completely loose power as if the battery terminal were removed. The all the lights will go out for a second (and on the rare occasion a few minutes) an then they will come back on again as if nothing ever happened. On the rare occasion after driving for some time it will begin to sputter and the lights will go dim and then when you slow down it will cut out.

There seems to be some connection with the ABS system since when it starts acting up if you press the brake and let go it spedometer will jump and the lights will dim, etc and then it will just shut off.

It also seems that when the lights do not come back on immediately they will come back on when I press the brake or even when I have pressed the shift handle override button. Though the brake and the transmission connection may be coincidence.

Thanks for any help - Rick
