*Screams* GOD I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!WHY?!WHY!?WHY!?AHHHH!!!
Yeah, I'm going insane thanks to my '84 Volvo. It's just one setback after another!!!!To make a long story short(believe me, the actual story is longer than this) I purchased this car last June for $350. I then put $200 into fixing the front brakes, so $550 really isn't that bad for a car. It ran great for a couple of months (except for little glitches here and there...) until the brakes started sticking to the brake discs. So I said "I had it!!" with my '84, and I decided to buy an '86 5spd. for $300. The car had A LOT of electrical problems because the previous owner is a complete MORON, and did a nice little hack-job on all of the internal wiring as a sad attempt to wire a CD player properly. Not to mention this car needed all new fuel lines and the gas tank from my '84.(Cost-$520) After driving this car for about 2 months, and having the car towed to my mechanic over 5 times, I screamed "I had it!" with this car. So I decided to make the '84 a daily driver again, and I had the gas tank put back in and the fuel lines replaced, and (I THOUGHT that) I had the brakes from the '86 (which were brand new) put into the '84. So after waiting all of Christmas break, (35 days, but who's counting?) I was finally able to drive my '84 last Saturday. I drove it to my girlfriend's house hang out with her, and man did the car sound great! I did a little cleaning, and I found a whole bunch of brake calipers, and I said to myself "Why are these in here? They replaced the calipers already!" *Throws in trash*. So now my car was clean and running grea-oh wait...Is that gas spewing everywhere? Yes it is! Apparently they didn't put a fuel line on correctly, so I had to drive it all the way back to my mechanic's to get it fixed. On the ride down there, my brakes start humming and squealing on all four tires and I'm thinking to myself "They didn't replace the calipers, they didn't replace the calipers...I just threw away all of the calipers and today IS TRASH DAY. . . . " Fortunately my mechanic was able to replace the line that day, but he wasn't able to check out my brakes. However he did ask if I threw away the calipers because they "Didn't replace them." Well I made an appointment with him to get the brakes replaced on Thursday, but today my car didn't feel like starting. Nope, nosiree Bob. When I try to start it the car just "ticks" and that's all it does, the engine doesn't even turn over or anything. I figured it was the battery that's dead but my system still works (loudly I may add) and my lights still shine brightly. Unfortunately I was strapped for time so I wasn't able to jump it to see if it's just the battery because I REALLY hope that's the case. But really, when is enough enough? I have a '99 Ford ZX2 Escort ( I don't like it, but hey it's reliable at least...) that I can drive, but I just really love Volvos-especially this one! I don't know what I'm going to do with the car if it's something more than a dead battery, and I have to spend $70 to get it towed to my mechanic. (I live 25 miles away from my mechanic) It's just more money that I just simply don't have, to spend on a car that seems to have 1 consistent problem after another. What do I do? I get home at 3P.M. EST so I hope I can get some input before then! Thank you so much for reading this guys!
