Vacuum Advance Set up 444-544

Ron,
I have your "Volvo Ignition from Scratch" write up printed and use it as the bible for this and have had no problem in the past with other distributors.

After setting the ignition point, the drive slot on the pinion is in the proper position as per the drawing. When the distributor is installed, the rotor is pointing to about 250 degrees which is inbetween the #1 plug wire and the #3 plug wire position on the cap. I can't get the rotor to pass the #1 plug wire position on the cap because the vacuum chamber hits the block.
This may be a repeat of the original post but I also can't get the rotor to pass over the #3 plus wire position on the cap because the oil cap on the side of the distributor hits the block.
With these two conditions, shifting the plug wires one position clockwise won't work.
Can the distributor shaft be adjusted so the rotor is pointing in the right direction?
Dennis
