Sudden Engine Failure 700 1990

I have replaced the crank sensor previously.
I will check the engine error codes.
I may have a spare crank sensor.
I have removed the battery leads to prevent the battery from running low.
There is a constant draw from the battery light at least.
Perhaps more draw from other devices, but I don't know yet.
Temps are now out of the single digits so things will get a little easier.
What is the best way to troubleshoot the ignition switch?

Thank You

Richard
