dash mystery 900 1993

1993 940SE turbo 2.0 auto

Help! still got a problem with dash.
I've read the faq but it doesnt seem to help in this case.
symptoms are: I often go to use the car and find the row of dash warning lights dont come on . . . which means the battery doesnt charge.
I can get round it by having the dash loose in the console and pulling it forward and disconnecting and reconnecting the block connectors in turn on the back of the dash eventually I find one that makes the dash work but it's never the same one. I can only conclude that it's not the dash, it must be something else but what? Its almost as if something somewhere is waiting for a voltage spike before it allows power to go to the dash. Any help would be great, as I'm convinced now it can't be the dash nor the wiring behind it.
