1988 speedometer problem 200

Probably what has happened is the wiring to the sender is bad. the odometer not working on the original one has nothing to do with the speedo, the odometer has a little gear that is easily broken (even 1 tooth will make it stop) while the speedo is all electronic. so the failed replacement, and the subsecuent failing of the original is probably unrelated to the work you did. Check the wiring at the rear differential, thats the most common wire failure of that unit.
