Converting from R-12 to R-134

I have an 88 240 wagon. My A/C just went but they modified the belts so I still have my power steering but no A/C, not that I need it now. I was told it can cost anywhere from $850-$1100 to do the conversion to R-134. Is this accurate? Should I just sell the car? About how much do you think I could sell it for? It only has 103,000 miles with some rust spots on the rear door. Other than that is it seems to be in good shape.

Thanks
