Timing on rebuilt 122? 120-130

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions on my fan blower motor.

Here's my next dilemma: The previous owner rebuilt the B18 in my Amazon. I assume he had it bored out to a B20 (isn't that what everyone does?) It has a later 140 distributor from a B20 in it (the Bosch aluminum kind) that I've updated with a Pertronix electronic ignition.

I've been tuning the engine to standard B18 specs as laid out in my Haynes manual, i.e., I set the timing to 22-24 degrees BTDC at 1500 RPM. For some reason, the results just don't feel right. I'm in the process of adjusting my freshly rebuilt SUs and want to make sure I'm getting it right. Some people I've talked to say that the rebuild makes no difference in the timing; some say it does, other say it's all in the distributor, and if that is true I'd like to know where I should be setting it.

What say the experts?

Thanks in advance,
